Penny Harris' photographs are in the collections of the Houston Museum of Fine Art, Texas: Baltimore Museum of Art; the Chrysler Museum, Norfolk, VA and the University of Maryland Library Collection.

Awards include Maryland State Arts Council Award for Individual Artists in 1992 & 1997, Critic's Residency Program Awards from Maryland Art Place, and a purchase award from the University of Delaware.

Additionally, Harris worked in the theater arts to create a photography stage set for a modern dance program performed at Towson University and at the Baltimore Museum of Art. She has lectured in the United States, and in China to the Hafei Association of Literature and Art, at the Hafei Museum. Recent exhibitions include Festival Visionaria, Siena, Italy and the Pataka Museum, New Zealand.
